Overview:
The Senior Cost Accountant is primarily responsible for the inventory costing, accuracy, processes, month end close, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record performing cost accounting functions in an operational/manufacturing environment working with Corporate and Production Management personnel. This person is adept at researching, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data. This position reports directly to the Cost Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
· Partners with key internal customers (i.e. operations, manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, and Engineering)
· Own costing at both plant and item level
· Review departmental expenses monthly including the preparation and review of monthly management reports as well as special/ad-hoc reporting projects
· Applies cost accounting principles to establish and maintain standard costs, labor, overhead, and add on rates
· Analyze manufacturing margins, cost information, absorptions and variances in SAP
· Utilize SAP to maintain master data, understanding underlying report data sources
· Ensures inventory is properly valued including assessment of variances and inventory reserves
· Tracks and compare inventory results with general ledger balances
· Oversees inventory cycle count process
· Be the on-site point person for back-office process questions
· Work closely with the central controllership function and other various off-site corporate departments to implement processes and controls locally on-site
· Reviews inventory dispositions and adjustments
· Provides management with reports and suggests actions for improvement
· Participates in period-end and year end close process
· Assists in capital project scope and planning (manufacturing), and preparing financial justification
· Assist with audit requests from external auditors
· Document workflow and work procedures
· Periodic travel to the US may be required
Qualifications:
- · Bachelor's Degree required, with a concentration in Business, Accounting or Finance; CPA/CMA/CA a plus
- · 3 – 5 yrs. of operational accounting experience required
- · 3+ yrs. prior experience in a cost accounting manufacturing environment required
- · Must have experience with Cost Accounting & Inventory Management
- · Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures
- · Experience with SAP required. SAP implementation is a plus. Familiarity with QuickBooks a plus
- · Advanced skills in MS Excel Required
- · Must understand and have experience with standard costing, bill of materials, routings, absorption variance analysis, and overhead allocations
