Position Title: Heavy Equipment Sales Representative            FLSA:  Exempt + Commission
Department: Sales                                                                                                                                    
Summary
Responsible for effective sales and rental of heavy equipment product lines in assigned territory in order to achieve maximum sales profitability, account conversion, penetration, and retention. Identifies potential sales opportunities by prospecting, visiting prospects and existing customers, identifying needs, explaining product details, options, initiates product quotations, and builds long-term customer relationships to establish our company as the preferred heavy equipment vendor.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sales and rental of company owned equipment.
  • Attract and maintain new customers.
  • Increase the footprint of our company within the specified territory to maximize our presence in the industry.
  • Maintain and grow existing relationship
  • Contact and visit current and prospective customers, on-site, growing market sales and penetration.
  • Manage day to day sales calls and routine sales visits.
  • Advise management on day to day activities and follow-up needed.
  • Prepare and present product information to new customers.
  • Assist with customer and operator training as required.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, service needs, questions or complaints regarding products, services, billing issues and deliveries.
  • Account Management, including past due collections, and obtaining rental documentation.
  • Maintains and updates customer database, customer contacts, price levels, reviews / analyzes customer sales reports, identifies and takes appropriate action to grow sales based on related information.
  • Work closely with the Vice President of Sales and General Manager to develop and prioritize business opportunities, market share growth potentials, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft systems (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and maintain positive relationships with all customers and leaders at all levels.
  • Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Proven ability to effectively market products, negotiate terms and close deals.
  • Self-starter, proactive, strategic thinker, and resourceful.
Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
  • Minimum 3 years of outside sales experience required. Equipment sales preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid Drivers License and clean driving record.

  Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Visitation to shop and field job sites, as needed.
  • Ability to travel within a territory and work flexible hours as well as work in various environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, quickly elevate facts and maintain good judgement when making decisions.
  • Physical ability to climb in and out of vehicles and equipment used for demonstration purposes.
  • Travel to multiple states and division locations required as needed.
