Position Title: Territory Manager – East Texas                                                                                   
 

General Summary

The Territory Manager will be responsible for strategic direction, day-to-day operations of Sales, Parts & Service, P&L management and team development in the territory.  This role requires strong demonstrated leadership managing all parts of the dealership as well as strong sales and customer service skills.  Initially, the East Texas territory will consist of one large branch in Houston (~80 people, ~$80m revenue) and support the opening of a second and possibly third branch in the area which will be part of the Territory Manager’s remit. 
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develops and manages a business plan for the Territory. 
  • Oversees daily operations of the dealership, ensuring efficient workflows, budget management, customer satisfaction, Human Resources, Safety, etc.
  • Responsible for new and used equipment sales/leasing, rental business, parts & service business, all inventory (new/used equipment, attachments, parts), Accounts Receivable.
  • Partners with Sales team members to develop and execute strategies to drive sales and increase market share. 
  • Supports end to end sales process from quoting thru funding.  Assess and monitor sales performance.
  • Fosters strong relationships with existing customers by identifying customer needs and providing tailored solutions that create long-term partnerships while also identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Oversees and supports Parts & Service for the Territory, partnering with TX VP Service to ensure best-in-class Parts & Service. 
  • Hires, trains, and develops employees across all departments, focusing on employee retention and fostering a ‘First Choice’ work culture.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and customer demands.
  • Monitor competitors’ services, prices, auctions, and sales to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Report regularly to the Executive Team on dealership performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Handle complex customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Travel to customer sites, vendor locations, and industry events as needed.
  • Develop long-term growth strategies to expand the dealership’s market presence.

 

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

 

  • MBA or equivalent is a plus, but extensive relevant experience in the heavy equipment industry and senior leadership roles will be given priority over educational background. 
  • Minimum of 10 years in the heavy equipment dealership industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (GM, Director, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment; experience with Hyundai, BELL, Yanmar, Sakai is preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving sales and revenue growth, with field sales experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing large teams, with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Knowledge of budget management, financial reporting, and driving profitability.
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
